George Hampilos, 86, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday evening at Manor Care Health Services, following a brief illness. Born in Lancaster, George was the loving husband of Bessie Lascaris Hampilos, together they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on July 15th. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
George was a 21-year veteran of the US Navy, serving on transport ships during WWII and Korea. He was the former owner of the Coronet Restaurant and Night Club, Lancaster and retired from Coronet China and Decal, Inc. George had attended several Institutions of Higher Learning including, the Naval Supply Corps, the University of Missouri Valley, the University of Notre Dame and the Wharton School of Finance.
George will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Bessie, his children Speros G. Hampilos, D.O. and his wife Stacie of Clearwater, FL, Renee H. Gammache of Lancaster and Frank G. Hampilos; two granddaughters, Tori and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Hampilos.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Life Celebration Service from Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA on Friday at 10am, Fr. Hector Firoglanis officiating. Private Entombment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at his church on Thursday from 6:30-8:30pm and at the again at the church on Friday from 9am until the time of service. Trisagian Services will be held on Thursday evening at 7:30pm.
