Gerald L. Kemler, 63, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday morning at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur L. and Helen Sprout Kemler. He moved to the Lancaster area when he was two. Gerald was the husband of Carol J. Roberts Kemler, together the celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary on March 17th.
Gerald was a barber for over 42 years. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God in Lancaster where he was active member of the choir, the Men's Ministry, the H.U.G. Ministry; he was involved with the church coffee café, helped with the custodial staff at one time, and served with two mission trips to Nicaragua and Lithuania. He was known to family and friends as a tinkerer; fixing things and making things, he enjoyed woodworking and crafts, and even making his home a "Green Home" with solar panels and lighting. He loved to sing and hum songs.
Gerald will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol, his children; Pastor Mike J. Kemler of Newville, PA and Katya L. Kemler of Lancaster and his sister Ruth, wife of Ambrose Bard of Akron. Gerald was preceded in death by a son, Joseph S. Kemler and his brother Arthur Kemler.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Life Celebration Service from New Life Assembly of God, 1991 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA, 17602 on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Chris Foster and Pastor Moses Baker officiating. Interment will be held at Memory Gardens, Ephrata, PA. Family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Please omit flowers.
