Vadine
Thomas Gabriel Vadine, age 92, of Downingtown, PA. Was born on December 10, 1919 in Lyndell, PA, passed of natural causes in West Chester, PA on June 2, 2012. Son of Antonio Vadino and Gesilmina Ciarlone and brother of Anthony Thomas Vadino (deceased) George Thomas Vadino of Issaquah, WA. Married Antionette Duca on July 13, 1944 and were married 64 years until her passing on March 30, 2009.

Graduated from Dickinson High School in Jersey City. NJ. Was in the US Navy from 1939-1945 on the USS Quincy, USS Sante Fe and USS Lind. Served in the North and South Atlantic, Pacific Theater including Guadalcanal (Survived the sinking of the USS Quincy at the Battle of Savo Island) Aleutians, Tarawa, Wake Island, Bougainville, Kwajalein, Saipan, Palau, Philippines, survived "Typhoon Cobra," Iwo Jima, Okinawa and was present at surrender in Tokyo Bay. Presented a flag flown on that day on the USS Lind to Senator John McCain since his grandfather had been transported by the Lind to the Missouri for the ceremony.

Worked all his life for the Davey Paper Co. in Aurora IL and Jersey City, NJ with father Antonio Vadino. Energetic community volunteer for numerous St. Anthony's Lodge projects (including "Frog Party" and 60th anniversary video), benefactor of Marinelli Memorial Park and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Downingtown, PA.

Survived by beloved daughter Patricia G. Vadine, LCSW of Rivervale, NJ, brother George T. Vadino, Uncle George Ciarlone Sr. and numerous nephews, nieces and 1st, 2nd and 3rd cousins in the Vadino, Ciarlone, McShane and Duca families.

Relatives and friends are invited to Thomas’s Life Celebration Wednesday, June 6 from 6pm-8pm at Ralston & Bredickas of Downingtown, 107 W. Lancaster Avenue. His funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, June 7 at 10:30AM, 460 Manor Avenue followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Downingtown.
